Cecil Duncan

Funeral services for Cecil Duncan of Hugo will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Jessie Morton officiating, assisted by Bro. Mutt Wallace. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
Mr. Duncan died October 4, 2004, at his home. He was 87. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Hugo.
He was born September 25, 1917 in Irving, Okla., the son of Edgar Duncan and Mary (Richards) Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Duncan; nine brothers, Dennis, Eli and Levi, Clarence, Calvin, Jack, J.B., Billy and Johnnie; two sisters, Mable Gibson and Melvita Wesson; eight nieces and nephews. He was a hard worker, who helped out the family from an early age. He was an expert welder. He worked in the aerospace industry in California for McDonnell Douglas, where he did combination welding and accomplished a difficult welding operation on the Saturn bulkhead at Kennedy Space Center. He also coached Little League baseball. He returned to Hugo in 1980, where he operated his own welding shop and where he and Mary raised their grandchildren, Dawn and Shawn.
Surviving relatives: His wife, Mary (Childers) Duncan; children, Carole and James of Denver, Colo.; his brother, Thomas Duncan of Hugo; 21 nieces and nephews; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
