Joseph "Jody" Roberts

     Memorial services celebrating the life of Joseph "Jody" Roberts of Hugo were held at 4 p.m. October 9, 2004, at 609 East Rosewood in Hugo. Interment was in Goodland Cemetery.
     Mr. Roberts died September 28, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He was 67. He was of the Baptist faith, a charter member of the Choctaw Veterans Warrior Society and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was born January 11, 1937 in Soper, the son of Joshua Roberts and Jincy (James) Roberts and had lived all of his life in the Hugo area. Jody loved spending time in the outdoors, fishing, camping, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Surviving relatives: His companion, Shirley Phillips of Hugo; three sons, Joseph H. Roberts, Jr. of Hugo, Curtis Knight of Motlow, Okla., and James J. Hughes of Florida; one stepson, Tommy Phillips, Jr., of Hugo; one stepdaughter, Setina Reynolds of Hugo; one brother, Arnett Roberts of Hugo; three grandsons, one granddaughter and seven step grandchildren.
