Stanley Matthews

     Services for Stanley Matthews were held Friday, May 23, 2003 at 10:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Antlers.

     Mr. Matthews died Tuesday May 20, 2003 in Antlers. He was 83.

     Stanley was born Aug. 14, 1919 to A.P. and Salina Matthews. He married Wilma Shilling on May 21, 1945. Stanley was a member of the Kent Baptist Church. He was a retired school teacher and served as County Superintendent in Choctaw County for 12 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club, a farmer and rancher.

     He lived in the Soper community most of his life.

     He is survived by his wife Wilma, one daughter Sherry Dunlap, of Soper, 3 grandchildren, Kelly Hickman of Antlers, Stanley Dunlap of Rattan, and Willie Dunlap of Okmulgee. 4 great grandchildren.

     Rev. Skip Perkins officiated the services and burial followed in Finley Cemetary [sic] in Finley, OK, under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
