William Thomas Lantroop

Funeral services for William Thomas Lantroop of Valliant will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Pine Belt Church with Rev. Anthony Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Old Ringold Cemetery.

Mr. Lantroop died Monday, October 10, 2005, at his residence in Valliant. He was 79.

William Thomas “W.T.” Lantroop was born November 18, 1925 in Ringold, Oklahoma, the son of Thad & Ludie (Herrington) Lantroop. He married Katherine Leora Baker on November 25, 1947 in DeQueen, Arkansas. He lived in California, Oregon, Florida, and Illinois before retiring and moving back to the Valliant area in 1980. He worked as a heavy equipment operator while moving around the country and operated a package store in Valliant for many years. He loved gardening and grew many prize vegetables. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jimmy Neal Lantroop, Roy Glenn Lantroop, Wayne Lantroop, Doyle Lantroop; and two sisters, Eunice Wilson and Debra Lantroop.

Surviving relatives: Wife, Katherine Lantroop of the home; son & daughter-in-law, James & Debbie Lantroop of Valliant; three brothers, Fred Lantroop of Haskell, Walt Lantroop of Millerton, Steve Lantroop of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four sisters, Pearlie Chambless of Swink, Ruthie Fennell of Valliant, Jean Gramblet of Midwest City, and Louise Dunlap of Jacksonville, Ore.; grandchildren, Brian & Jenna Lantroop of Valliant; great-grandchildren, Carlee, Tyler, Brianna and Paytyn; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo.
