Harlan Routon

Funeral services for Harlan Routon of Soper were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at First Assembly of God Church of Soper with Rev. Jonathan Hooker and Rev. Jessie Babcock officiating. Interment was in Soper Cemetery.

Mr. Routon died Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. He was 83.

Harlan Routon was born January 26, 1922 in Nelson, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur Dewey & Minnie Ellen (Riddle) Routon. He lived in this area most of his life working as a carpenter. He was a member of the Soper First Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Katherine (Stillwell) Routon, on May 16, 1995. He married Alta Selby on March 15, 1996 in Boswell, Oklahoma. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Hochgraefe in 1999.Surviving relatives: Wife, Alta Routon of the home; sons & daughters-in-law, Harlan & Marie Routon of Wylie, Texas, Albert & Shirley Routon of Hugo; step-sons & daughters-in-law, Raymond & Angie Selby of Powderly, Texas, Johnny & Joyce Selby of Glen Rose, Texas; four grandchildren, Mark Routon, Scott Routon, Wesley Routon & Kary Smith; five great-grandchildren, Jascie Routon, Scott Routon, Andi Routon, Sarah & Savannah Routon; numerous nieces and nephews.
