M.W. Gross Funeral To Be At Methodist Church Today

Veteran Barrister Injured Months Ago in Wreck

M.W. Gross, county attorney, died at his home on East Jefferson street at 10 p.m. Friday following an illness of several months. He was 73 years old.
Funeral services will be held in the First Methodist Church at 5 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. C.W. Lester, officiating and Senner Funeral directors in charge. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Gross suffered a fractured hip and concussion of the brain in an auto wreck near Ada several months ago. He had been confined to his bed most of the time since, but was able for a few weeks to report to his office for work.
He was serving his third term as county attorney, having been elected to the post in 1922 and again in 1936 and 1938.
A native of Georgia, Mr. Gross served in the Georgia legislature as a young man. He later became superintendent of schools in his home county and came to this section of the [unreadable], while yet a young man to practice law.
He has followed the law profession exclusive here and has been in private practice during the years he was not holding public office.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. [?acy] Gross; two sisters, Mrs. Ida [?ade], Montrose, Ga.; and Mrs. Sam Smith, Davisborough, Ga.; and four brothers; Pierce Gross of Davisborough, Ga., Ernest Gross of Bartow, [?]; Marvin L. Gross, of Sandersville, [?], and Lee Gross of Tennile [?], Ga.
