Death Takes Pioneer Soper Woman Saturday
Mrs. W.D. Maloney Succumbs Suddenly
The Hugo Daily News October 9, 1939 – transcribed by Ron Henson

     Mrs. W.D. Maloney, pioneer Soper resident, died in the Sanitarium of Paris late Saturday following a sudden attack of indigestion.

     Funeral services were held this afternoon in Soper and the body is being taken to Commerce, Texas for burial beside that of her late husband.

     Surviving are five sons, John, Fred, Homer, Earl and Leonard, all of Soper, and four daughters, Miss Lemna Maloney, district home demonstration agent of Stillwater; Mrs. Grace Hampton, teacher in the Perry, Oklahoma school system; Mrs. Lorene Smith, Ardmore; and Miss Freda Maloney, who was living with her mother.

     The Maloneys are one of the pioneer and well known families of the county.
