C.N. McElreath Dies In Durant Hospital
Father of Chester McElreath, of Hugo
The Hugo Daily News October 9, 1939 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Durant (Special) – C.N. McElreath, 57, Durant business man for the past 40 years and father of Chester McElreath of Hugo, died Sunday in a Durant hospital. He was stricken three days ago at a cotton gin he was operating in Boswell.
McElreath had been prominent in business here many years, engaging in the cotton gin, oil mill and automobile businesses. He operated the McElreath Gin, one of the best known in Southeastern Oklahoma, for many years.
Funeral services were set for 4 p.m. today. Burial will be in Durant.
Survivors include his widow and two sons, Chester of Hugo and Elger of Durant.
