Robert Willbanks, Sr.

Graveside services for Robert Willbanks, Sr., of Grant, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004, in Grant Cemetery with Bro. Mutt Wallace officiating.
Mr. Willbanks died September 4, 2004, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. He was 77. He was a retired truck driver and past foreman for District II, Choctaw County. He was a World War II Army Veteran and Prisoner of War; he was a volunteer firefighter for Grant Fire Dept.; he was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Willbanks was born September 13, 1926 in South Haven, Kansas, the son of John Lawson Willbanks and Nettie (Dunlap) Willbanks and had lived in Grant since 1974. He married Myrtle Griffin on November 29, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert Warren Willbanks, Jr., and Leno Lawson Willbanks; and his sister, Hazel Jean McBee.
Surviving relatives: One daughter, Sheila Marie Cassidy of Grant; one brother, John Lawson Willbanks, Jr., of Roswell, N.M.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the funeral home.
