Charles G. Butler
C.G. Butler To Be Buried Here Saturday
The Soper Democrat – March 13, 1941
Transcribed by Ron Henson
The body of Chas. G. Butler will be brought to Soper for burial here Saturday afternoon. Mr. Butler died at his home in Amarillo, Texas, Wednesday night, following a lengthy illness. About six months ago he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never fully recovered. A few days ago he became ill, and continued to get worse until the end came last night. The body will arrive in Soper Friday afternoon and will be taken to the home of Mrs. W.N. Ellis. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, followed by burial in the Soper Cemtery [sic].
Mr. Butler came to Soper from Cumby, Texas, about 35 years ago. He was a carpenter and contractor here for many years, moving to Western Texas a number of years ago. He was a good man, a friend to all, and will be greatly missed. Besides his widow he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ed Bice of Ardmore, and a daughter of the home address at Amarillo.
