The Soper Democrat – March 29, 1945
Transcribed by Ron Henson

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harless have received official notice that their son, Willis B. Harless had been killed in action in the European theater of war, last July. He previously had been reported missing in action and Friday’s announcement from the war department was the first word received since then. His personal effects have been returned to the family.

Sgt. Harless, aged 21 years, entered the armed forces in January, 1943, and after training was sent overseas and assigned to the Air Corps.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, the former Miss Robby Winn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Winn, Route 2, Hugo, a two months old daughter, Noma Dean, two brothers, Raymond L. Harless, Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Harless, and sister, Miss Faydell Harless, of Soper.

Sgt. Harless had completed 17 missions all but one of them said to have been under heavy fire.

The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all in their sad hour.
