James Walter Peek
J.W. Peek Died Last Friday

James Walter Peek, aged 87 years, died at his home here last Friday night at 7 o’clock, following a several days’ illness. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by A. LeRoy Elkins, pastor of the Hugo Church of Christ. Burial was in the Soper Cemetery in charge of the Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Peek has been a member for many years.
Mr. Peek was a native of Kentucky where he was reared, but later moved to Bloomington, Indiana. He came to Soper about 10 years ago.
He is survived by a brother, Albert Peek of Edmonton, Ky., and several nieces and nephews, including J.R. Kinnard, of Prior, Okla., the only relative attending the funeral.
During Mr. Peek’s residence here he made many friends who are grieved at his passing. He was known as a good man.
