George H. Caldwell (courtesy of the Hugo Daily News - used with permission) Services for George H. Caldwell were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Hugo. George died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 in Paris, Texas. He was 92. George was born Aug. 14, 1911 in Frederick, Okla., to Henry and Maime (Jett) Caldwell. He married Winifred "Winnie" Ingler in 1942 in Ardmore, Okla. He had lived in this area all of his life. George served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded three purple hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a retired insurance agent for New York Life Insurance Company and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hugo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, Winifred of the home, one son, George H. ÒHubÓ Caldwell, Jr., and wife Janet, of Edmond, Okla.; three brothers: Jim Caldwell, Bonham, Texas, Floyd Caldwell, Albuquerque, N.M., and Bill Caldwell, Sand Springs, Okla.; one sister, Gladyce Neal, Lawton, Okla.; one granddaughter, Camille Caldwell, Edmond, Okla. Rev. Kay Buchanan officiated the services and burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo. Paid Announcement
