Laura "Helen" Carroll

Funeral services for Laura Helen Carroll, 80, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Rock Assembly of God Church in Fort Towson, with Rev. James Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Towson Cemetery.

Mrs. Carroll died Oct. 16, 2005 in Hugo.

She was born March 7, 1925 in Frogville, Okla., the daughter of Matt and Mary Ann (Alderman) Mitchell. She lived in the Fort Towson community all of her life. She married Robert John Carroll in December of 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Alice Gail Hickman; one son, Louis Franklin Chancellor, and one brother, Presley Mitchell.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert John Carroll, Fort Towson; two daughters: Glenda Carroll of Fort Towson and Lois Shirley, of Sawyer, Okla.; three sisters: Peggy Jo Ann Brown, Russellville, Al, Debbie Whitworth, Clayton, Okla., and Sandra Fortuna, Tishomingo, Okla.; four brothers: Jerry Mitchell of Valliant, Okla., Ronnie Mitchell of Clayton, Michael Mitchell of Tennessee and Larry Mitchell of Arkansas, and one special brother, James Brown of Russellville, Al.; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Tuesday evening, October 18, at the funeral home.
