Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at Sawyer for Mrs. Mary Jane Jackson, wife of W.D. Jackson, who died last night at their home on East Jefferson street.
Death came to the 75 year old resident of the city last night following a long illness. She was taken critically ill about 10 days ago and three days later took a turn for the worse and succumbed at about 10:30 Monday night.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Sparta Biennville Parish, Louisiana in 1860.
She was married to W.D. Jackson, also a native of Louisiana in 1885. The family migrated later to Texas then to Arkansas, and then to Sawyer, Oklahoma, before moving to Hugo in 1928, where she had lived until death occurred last night.
To this marriage were born eight children, four boys and four girls, three of whom survive besides Mr. Jackson. They are, Mrs. Myrtle Bateman, Mrs. Tinnie Moore and Sterling R. Jackson, all of whom reside in Hugo.
Pall bearers at the service this afternoon were J.W. Robinson, Mr. Wilson, and Marshall Ellis, all of Sawyer; L.R. Allen, C.G. Bearden and H.W. Wallace, all of Hugo.
