Floyd Bastible

Memorial services for Floyd Bastible of Swink were held at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005.

Mr. Bastible died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Paris, Texas. He was 90.

Floyd Bastible was born on February 1, 1915 in Bennington, Okla., to Hiram and Seleah (Pistubbee) Bastible. Floyd married Iva Meltabarger in April of 1937 in Bennington, Okla. He had lived in the Hugo area for the past 17 years after moving here from Trout Creek, Mont. He owned an antique furniture store and had worked as a rural mail carrier. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Seleah Bastible and wife, Iva Bastible.

He is survived by one son, Alfred Dallas Bastible of Elk, Wash.; three daughters, Jessie Hobmeier of Aztec, N.M., Linda Libstaff of Swink, Okla., and Eva Anderson of Hillsboro, Ore.; one brother, James Mintz of Bokchito, Okla.; five sisters, Jane Mintz of Bokchito, Okla., Wandel Ragle of Durant, Okla., Charlene Tidwell of Amarillo, Texas, Lillie Tonubbee of Okmulgee, Okla., and Belvia Murray of Durant, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Floyd Flink, Althea Radford, Nathan Libstaff, Danon Anderson, Dallas Bastible, Jr., Ronnie Bastible and Dean Bastible; three great-grandchildren; four cousins, R.D. Bastible, Dub Bastible, Preacher Bastible, Myrtle Mae Johnson Daughtery; three in-laws, Hank Sciuto, Ruby Keller and Odell Meltabarger; one foster child, Skeeter Shoppe and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
