Graveside services for Isabell Ashford of Valliant were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in Rufe Cemetery, with Rev. Melvin Hollamon officiating. Isabell Ashford died June 11, 2005, in Hugo. She was 73. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was born September 16, 1931 in Sevier County, Arkansas, the daughter of Alexander Ensey and Gertie (Combs) Ensey and had lived most of her life in the Ringold area, she had lived in Valliant for 7 years. She married Hoover Ashford on June 23, 1951. He preceded her in death in May of 1991. Isabell enjoyed gardening and fishing. She liked to go to the senior citizen's center and visit with her friends. She wanted to spend as much time outdoors as possible. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Curtis Keith Ashford, and 3 brothers; Clarence Ensey, Warren Ensey, and Roy Ensey.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: 1 son; Hoover Ashford, Jr., his wife Liz of Valliant, 1 daughter; Barbara Cumpton, her husband Randall of Valliant, 2 Brothers; Truman Ensey of Oklahoma City, and Roger Ensey of Ringold, 3 sisters; Pauline Wadley, Wanda Costilowe both of Hanna, Okla., and Oma Vann of Gillham, Ark. 2 grandchildren Misty Ashford of Oklahoma City, and Lisa Cumpton of New Castle, Delaware.
