Grady W. Elmore

Graveside services for Grady Elmore, a former resident of Boswell, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Restland Cemetery in Boswell.

Mr. Elmore died June 20, 2005, in Dallas, Texas. He was 77. He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church, 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Masonic Lodge, and Elks Lodge. He served in the Korean conflict and retired from the Army.

He was born June 16, 1928 in Crowder Springs, Okla., south of Boswell. He was the son of Van Buren Elmore and Beulah (Crowder) Elmore and grew up in Boswell, then in 1969 moved to Paris, Texas. He married Joan Dancer in DeQueen, Ark. on October 10, 1951.Grady loved going to the coffee shop and reading western magazines. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved going to rodeos and spending time with his family and friends. He was very involved in his community; he was honored to have served his country and very proud of his Indian heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents.

SURVIVING RELATIVES: his wife Joan Elmore of the home, three daughters; Angie Selby and husband Raymond of Powderly, Texas, Connie Miller and husband Anthony of College Station, Texas, Brigitte Viehe and husband Mike of Paris, Texas, two brothers; Pete Elmore of McKinney, Texas, and Paul Elmore of Boswell, Okla., one sister; Mickie Braudrick, of Hugo, Okla., six grandchildren; Bryan, Terra, Tasha, Brandon, Brittany, and Blair, three great grandchildren; Alex, Kenyatta, and Riley.

The family will receive friends Wednesday June 22, 2005 from 6-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
