Funeral services for Etta Martin of Hugo were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at First Assembly of God Church in Hugo with Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. Interment was in Ft. Towson Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin died Sunday, March 27, 2005, in Hugo. She was 98.Etta Elizabeth Martin was born on August 25, 1906 in Garvin, to James Ervin and Minnie Ophelia (Heflin) Smith. She married Johnnie Martin in Ft. Towson on June 25, 1921. She had lived in this area all her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hugo. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie Martin; three sons, Lonnie, Clabourn and Ollen Martin; son-in-law, Roy Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Helen Martin; one granddaughter, Juanita Martin; two grandsons, Jackie Martin and Brian Rose; one great grandson, Justin Martin; two brothers, Herman and Dillard Smith; three sisters, Audra Halkum, Noma Smith and Thelma Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Elton Martin of Blanchard and Elvin Martin of Mustang; four daughters, Opal M. Pruitt of Hugo, Dovie Sossamon of Oklahoma City, Lillie Rose of Newcastle and Brenda Rieves of Paris, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
