Jerry Pavillard
contributed by The Hugo
Daily News
PAVILLARD, Jerry, 84, of OKC, went to be with her Lord March 19, 2005 at OU Medical Center following heart surgery. Arnita Jeraldine Lawrence was born Feb. 12, 1921 in Newlin, Texas, the sixth child of Dock and Effie Lawrence. Her parents, her brothers, Speck Lawrence and Bill Lawrence; her sisters, Polly Townes, Cleo Scheibe and Margaret Martin and her son-in-law, Robert A. Allen preceded her in death. On Oct. 2, 1940, she married Ralph Adrian Pavillard. They had one child, Phyllis Kay. Ralph passed away Nov. 17, 1986. Jerry was a proud Army wife for 24 years and a devoted wife for 46 years. Jerry is survived by her daughter, Kay Otis and her husband Jerry of Hugo, Okla. and 4 grandchildren, Michele Allen of Charlottesville, Va., Mike Allen and his wife Cecilia of Arlington, Va., Leslie Bullock of Yorktown, Va. and Adrienne Allen of Pleasanton, Calif. She had 4 great grandchildren, Kelsey Bullock, Tristan Boyd, and Jake and Zack Allen. Her family was the love of her life. She is also survived by a host of family and wonderful friends. Jerry and Ralph spent their military life living in such places as Japan and Germany as well as assignments here in the states. After retirement, they lived in Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia. Jerry was a devout Christian and a member of the Methodist Church. Anyone who knew Jerry, knew the joy of experiencing her wonderful cooking. She was an avid bridge player and loved to knit and sew. However, possibly topping the list of the things she loved to do was watch her beloved Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and OU Sooners. Her love and knowledge of sports always amazed people. Her last big project to be involved in was an organization called "Hugs Project". Jerry made over 200 "Hugs" to be sent to our soldiers in Iraq. These Hugs are worn around their neck to keep them cool in the hot desert. She was very proud that she could do something for our troops. Jerry faced many challenges in her life never losing faith in God and never giving up. Her smile, sense of humor (she loved a good joke) and tenacity will be missed by all who knew her. There is an emptiness in our hearts, but her legacy will live on through her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wants to thank the staff at OU Medical Center ICU for the quality of care, love and compassion that they showed not only to Jerry, but to her family as well. Visitation was Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2005 at the funeral home. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at Ft. Sill Post Cemetery in Ft. Sill, Okla. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Goodland Boys Home, Hugo, OK, The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association would be appreciated. Services directed by Vondel Smith South/OKC.
Paid announcement.
