Dortheal Patterson

    The funeral for Dortheal Patterson, 93, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla., with the Rev. Doug McClure officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are by the funeral home. She passed away on March 4, 2005, at the Methodist Home of Enid, Okla., where she had lived since moving there in 1999 to be near her daughter and family. Dortheal was born October 29, 1911 in Hugo, Oklahoma, to John and Annie Campbell and lived there all her life. On April 13, 1929, she married Claud Patterson, owner of D.C. Patterson Hardware and numerous rental properties. Dortheal was a homemaker during her children's early years. When they left for college, she became society editor for the Hugo Daily News, then secretary for Manes Construction and eventually retired from the Department of Human Services. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hugo and taught Sunday School for many years. Dortheal is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gunnar Anderson, of Enid, her son and daughter-in-law, Dudley and Ann Patterson of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, by her granddaughter, Julie Anderson Boykin, in 2003, and two brothers and one sister.
    Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 E. Jackson, Hugo, OK 74743, or to the United Methodist Home of Enid, 301 S. Oakwood, Enid, OK 73703. Visitation with the family was on March 8 at the funeral home.
