Funeral services for Jimmy Joe Melton, Jr., of Hugo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005, at Soper Assembly of God Church with Reverend Jonathan Hooker officiating. Interment will be in Soper Cemetery.
Jimmy Joe Melton, Jr., of Hugo passed away on October 15, 2005 in Hugo at the age of 49. He was born on February 19, 1956 in Denison, Texas to Jimmy Joe Melton, Sr., and Nova Lee Barnes. Jimmy Joe was a truck driver. He loved his family and spent every moment he could with them. He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Joe Melton, Sr., and his daddy, Clarence L. Webb. Jimmy Joe, better known to his family and friends as "Sleepy," is survived by the mother of his children, Saundra Melton of Hugo; three sons, Jimmy Joe Melton, III and his wife Harolyn, Michael Melton and Kevin Melton all of Hugo; one daughter Tracy Melton of Hugo; his mother, Nova Webb and Dwain James of Soper; two brothers, Mark Webb and wife Kim of Newton, Kansas and Jonathan Webb and his wife Samantha of Tishomingo; two sisters, Ann Smallwood and her husband R.L. of Atlanta, Ga., and Teresa Ingram and her husband Mark of Poteau; his uncles, Clarence "Moon" Barnes of Soper and Kelsey Barnes of Boswell; life long friends, Eddie Smith and Chris Dickson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donations can be made in his name to Soper Assembly of God Missions.
