Madeline Tharp

Services for Madeline Tharp, 87, of Melissa, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, Texas, with Mr. Ray Tharp and Rev. Nelson T. Leeman officiating. Interment was in the Kemp Cemetery.

She was born Mary Madeline McKnight on May 18, 1918, in Arvada, Colorado, daughter of William Newton & Martha Marie (Riley) McKnight. She died November 4, 2005 in Melissa., Texas. Mrs. Tharp was a resident of Hugo until about a month ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hugo, and a member of the Choctaw Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Her husband, Raymond Tharp, preceded her in death in 1986, and a daughter, Ranean Raper preceded her in June, 2000.

Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, Ray & Suzanne Tharp of Melissa , Texas, and Leon & Victoria Tharp of Balch Springs, Texas; nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Priest of Lakewood, Colorado.
