Alvie H. Claborn, Sr.

Graveside services for Alvie H. Claborn, of Lawton, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 28, 2003 at the Sterling Cemetery. Pastor Richard Mayer officiated the ceremony. Interment followed, with military honors.
Alvie H. Claborn died Jan. 25, 2003 in Lawton. He was 84
Alvie was born Dec. 16, 1918 in Idabel to Elizabeth and Albert Claborn. He married Marguerite (Lucas) Claborn Aug. 31, 1973 in Post, Texas. He retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class after 23 years of dedication. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Alaska, Korea and Germany. He was also a veteran of World War II, fighting in the south Pacific. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sterling.
Alvie was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Albert Claborn; four sisters, Mavis (May) Griffin, Faye Roebuck, Nora Davis and Nell Johnson; one granddaughter, Dusti Glenn; and one grandson, Kennie Wayne Barnett.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Claborn of Lawton; two sons, Alvie H. Claborn, Jr. & wife Barbara, of Chattanooga, and Rick Claborn & wife Laurie, of Faxon; three daughters, Elizabeth Gilpen & husband John, of Union City; Elon Weeks & husband Ed, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Renay Bryan & husband Dale, of Chattanooga; one sister, Lue Barnes, of Soper; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Whinery Huddleston Funeral Service in Lawton handled the funeral arrangements.
