Mary Elizabeth Echols

Services for Mary Echols, of Fort Towson, were at 2 p.m. Feb. 2, 2003 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo. The Rev. Joey Waldrup officiated the ceremony. Interment followed at the Valliant Cemetery.
Mary Echols died Feb. 1, 2003 in Hugo. She was 84.
Mary was born Dec. 18, 1918 in Nippingtuck, La. to Cleat and Fannie (Doster) Ellington. She married W.E. “Buck” Echols in Bernice, La. July 6, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. “Buck” Echols; her parents, Cleat and Fannie Ellington; two sons, Robert Kelsey Echols and Jerry Rex Echols; one grandson, Brandon Steven Hall; one sister, Minnie Rodgers; four brothers, George, John Allen, Jimmy and Malvin Ellington.
She is survived by two sons, Willis Echols of Fort Towson and Cleatus Merle Echols of Acorn, Ark.; three daughters, Quanah Wannell Echols of Fort Towson, Mary Carolyn Echols Hall of Powderly, Texas and Alice Patricia Haynes of Hatfield, Ark.; two sisters, Roweena Echols of Farmersville, La. and Bertie Railey of Fresno, Calif.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.
