Services for Bennie Lee Jones were at 2 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Soper First Baptist Church. The Rev. Greg Hammond officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Soper cemetery in Soper. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 4 at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo.

Bennie Lee Jones died in Sept. 2, 2002 in Dallas, he was 69.

Bennie Lee Jones was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Soper to Manford and Sally (Cox) Jones. He married Kathryn Nation July 5, 1956 in Hugo.

Bennie had lived in this area for the past seven years after moving back from Odessa, Texas. He had worked as a roughneck on an oil crew and was a member of the American Legion. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Ouida Whitefield, Eulema Higginbottom and Neva Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Jones of Soper; One daughter, Donna Laginess of Terrel, Texas; one brother, Lemeul Jones of Aledo, Texas; twin sisters, Frankie Kelly and Artie (Tiny) Henkelman both of Cleburne, Texas; two grandchildren, Jared and Kerri Laginess and several nieces and nephews.

Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo is handling the arrangements.
