Roy Pebsworth

Roy Pebsworth, 75, of Hugo, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, in Hugo. Roy Pebsworth was born in Grant, Oklahoma on January 3, 1929 to Void Preston and Willie (Byars) Pebsworth. He married Madeline Speck on July 23, 1950 in DeQueen, Arkansas. They had five children and have lived in the area for the past fifteen years. He worked for the Frisco Railroad for nine and a half years as a telegraph lineman. In 1957 he went to work for the federal government as an avionics technician at the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. In 1966 the family transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where Roy continued his career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Roy and Madeline enjoyed their life in Alaska and lived there until Roy's retirement in 1987. Roy and Madeline moved back to Hugo and built a home together. Roy was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Roy was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen D. Pebsworth, one son Michael P. Pebsworth, his parents, Void and Willie Pebsworth, two half-brothers, Ray and Herbert Pebsworth and one half-sister, Helen Branch.Surviving relatives include: Wife, Madeline Pebsworth, of the home; Son, Steve Pebsworth and wife Donna of Camas, Wash.; two daughters, Sharon L. McDonald and husband Todd of Denver, Colo., and Lisa C. Price and husband Larry of Longview, Wash.; three sisters, Bobbie Jo Jones of Paris, Texas, Billie Faye Botkin of Tahlequah, Okla., and Betty Sue Berryhill of Aztec, N.M.; ten grandchildren, Robert Pebsworth, Eric Pebsworth & Terra Stanley, Lynn Lower, Melissa Miller, Scott Price, Poppie Salinas, Stacy Lee Bell, Preston Pebsworth & Dalton Pebsworth; eight great-grandchildren, Kariss Bell, Madelyn Page, Zacary Salinas, Shaedon Bell, Kallyann Stanley, Taylor Pebsworth, James Price & Mason Price. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Mayfield and Ron Kilman officiating. Internment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. The family received friends Monday, January 3, 2005, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
