Louise Provence

Funeral services for Louise Provence of Rufe were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2005, at Rufe Baptist Church with Rev. Hershel Reed officiating. Interment was in Rufe Cemetery.
Mrs. Provence died January 7, 2005, at her home. She was 85. She was a homemaker and a member of Rufe Baptist Church.
She was born September 12, 1919 in Three States, Louisiana, the daughter of R.D. Dickerson and Buehler (Westmoreland) Dickerson and had lived all of her life in Rufe. She married Leslie L. Provence on December 12, 1936 at Mound Grove Community. He preceded her in death on May 22,1990. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ricky Don Provence, a grandson, Tim Provence, one brother: Carl Dickerson and three sisters: Marie Burton, Irene Buehler, and Faye Tucker. Louise enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking and loved to go fishing.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: seven sons: Tommy Joe Provence of Ringold, Harden Provence of Ft. Towson, L.C. Provence of Rufe, Jimmy Ray Provence of Rufe, Arley Provence of Rufe, Leslie "June Bug" Provence, Jr. of Sobol, Loyd "Rocky" Provence of Haworth; three brothers, Clifford Dickerson of New Mexico, Fred Dickerson of Foreman, Ark., and Elmer Headrick of Oil City, La.; one sister: Mable Upchurch of Vivian, La.; 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
