J.P. Burke
Salesman Dies In Hotel Room Here
Heart Stroke Fatal For J.P. Burke
The Hugo Daily News September 15, 1939 – transcribed by Ron Henson

J.P. Burke, 53 year old Dallas chemical salesman, died of a heart stroke while reading a newspaper in his room at the Belmont hotel early Thursday night. His wife, Mrs. Beryl Burke was with him at the time.

The body was taken overland in a Campbell hearse to Dallas this morning. The Brewer Funeral home of Dallas will have charge of arrangements for burial.

Burke and his wife registered at the hotel late Thursday afternoon. After the evening meal, they retired to their room. Burke was reading an afternoon newspaper when he suddenly slumped in his chair, unconscious. A physician was summoned, but death apparently had been instantaneous.

Survivors include his wife and one daughter.
