Joseph E. Johnson Dies At Home Here
Services Scheduled For This Afternoon
The Hugo Daily News September 11, 1939 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Joseph E. Johnson, 65 years old, died at his home, 506 [possibly “306”] North “G” Sunday. Funeral services were to be held at 4:30 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. W.E. White, Pastor, officiating and Snow funeral directors in charge. Burial was to be in Springs Chapel cemetery.
Survivors in addition to his wife are five daughters: Mildred Johnson, Hugo; Mrs. D.B. Long, Klondike, Texas; Mrs. Q.B. Wright, Paris, Texas; Mrs. Henry Moyers, Marshall, Texas; Mrs. Carson Gaylor, Commerce, Texas; two sons, Carl Johnson of San Francisco, California and Ralph Johnson of Hugo; two brothers, Will Johnson of Cooper, Texas and Tom Johnson of Hugo; and one sister, Mrs. Billie Phillips of Miller, Oklahoma.
Pall bearers are: T.W. Tyler, Will Brooks, Thomas Self, Henry Sattawhite, Walter Leard, Dan Bridges, Henry Montgomery and Otis Henry Sr.
