Former Mayor Dies In Memphis Wreck
M.L. Webb Killed In Train Accident
The Hugo Daily News September 5, 1939 – transcribed by Ron Henson
M.L. Webb, who served Hugo as mayor from 1906 to 1909, was killed in a train accident in Memphis, Tennessee Saturday night, his relatives here were notified early Sunday. He was a nephew of C.L. Webb of Hugo.
Funeral services were conducted in Memphis Monday.
Mr. Webb was prominent in Choctaw county politics prior to and immediately following statehood. He served in the state legislature as Choctaw county representative and held many honorary posts here. He was also a prominent merchant.
