ANTHONY BOHANNON CALLED BY DEATH
AGED CHOCTAW IS ANOTHER BROKEN LINK BETWEEN THE PAST AND PRESENT REGIME
Had Spent Seventy five Years in the Indian Country and Was Historical Character
The Hugo Husonian 7-25-1912 - contributed by Doris Dykes - transcribed by Ron Henson
Anthony Bohannon, one of the oldest and best known Choctaw Indians of Southeastern Oklahoma, died at the family home two and a half miles southwest of this city Friday afternoon, death being due to pulmonary trouble.
Deceased was a member of one of the oldest Indian families of this section and had played no small part in the history of the Indians for this section. He was the father of a large family and he had lived in this vicinity for so long that the memory of few go back to that period.
Anthony Bohannon was 75 years of age. The vast majority of that period was spent in this section where he had worked for improvement so many years. As an active citizen in the old days he did as he saw best, and in his passing the link between the past and present is again severed.
Interment was made at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Old Goodland cemetery.
