Bud Barber

Funeral services for Bud Barber of Marietta, Oklahoma, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta with Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating, assisted by Rev. Stanley Pope. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta.

Mr. Barber was born June 19, 1934 in Muleshoe, Texas, the son of John Whitten and Dora Bell Hall Barber. He passed away Saturday, August 20, 2005, in Mercy Memorial Health Care Center, Ardmore, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years, two months and one day.

A resident of Marietta since 1995, Mr. Barber had been employed as caretaker of the funeral home in Marietta since January 1997. He and Mary Stonecipher were married December 19, 1965, in Muleshoe. Mr. Barber served in the U.S. Army from May 1, 1958 to April 29, 1960. He was manager of Blackwater Fertilizer in Muleshoe for 12 years, and then was manager of the Red River Farmers Coop in Hugo for 15 years before moving to Marietta. Mr. Barber loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Barber of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack Wesley & Tammye Barber of Pampa, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Lynn & William Netzinger of Spring, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie & Donnita Barber of Monahans, Texas; one sister, Polly Chisum of Clovis, N.M.; three grandchildren, Tacye Barber, Jackye Barber and John Michael Netzinger.

Pallbearers will be Jack Barber, James Stonecipher, William Netzinger, Justin Stonecipher, Ronnie Barber, Johnny Stonecipher.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daren Flanagan, Brad Watts, Wayne Bond, Jimmy White, Monroe Thompson, Bryant Watts, John Kennedy, Bob Hathaway, Derrie Minyard, Dr. J.T. O’Connor, M.B. Watts, David Kerr, Terry Vernon, James Donaghe, Ron Dobbs, members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Eastside Baptist Church.

Services directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
