Jane "Grandma" Wilson
Death of Grandma Wilson
The Ft Towson Enterprise May 7, 1909 -
transcribed & contributed by Ron Henson
On Sunday night, May 2, 1909, the death angel visited our midst and claimed Mrs. Jane Wilson, commonly known as "Grandma Wilson."
She has for the past three months been under treatment in Paris at St. Joseph's Infirmary, and while her death was sudden it was not wholly unexpected.
All who knew Mrs. Wilson loved her dearly and their hearts were filled with sadness at the news of her death. The rich example of her life, though she be dead, "yet speaketh" and her dear memory will never cease to be an inspiration to those who love and cherish great and noble qualities.
Grandma Wilson is the mother of a family of four sons, who survive her. She has a large family of grandchildren who can now work with greater love and hope of heaven, realizing the beautiful example of Christian fortitude, patience and love in the life of grandma.
She was reared at Wheelock or near there, and was one of the oldest citizens of Choctaw County.
The citizens of Fort Towson extend to the bereaved family deepest heartfelt sympathy.
