Wadell Johnston

Graveside services for Wadell Johnston of Valliant were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2005, at Valliant Cemetery with Bro. Bob Stuart officiating. Interment was in Valliant Cemetery

Mr. Johnston died August 3, 2005, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. He was 72. He was retired from Brown & Root Construction Co., Valliant.

He was born May 19, 1933 in Palestine, Texas, the son of Harvey Leroy Johnston and Lizzie Bell (Brock) Johnston and had lived in Valliant since 1971. He married Vella Gillikin in Livingston, Texas in 1952. Wadell was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved watching his sons and grandsons drive their racecars. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Verbel Johnston and three sisters: Mae Gagon, Joy Simms, and Levena Strong.

SURVIVING RELATIVES: his wife: Vella Johnston; five sons: Jimmy Johnston and wife, Cathy, Mike Johnston and wife, Lisa, and Rodney Johnston and wife, Penny, all of Valliant, Okla., Terry Johnston and wife, Stephnie of Dublin, Ga. and Gary Johnston and wife, Peggy of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren: Gina and husband, Kieth Ridley of Pinehurst, Texas, Tony Johnston of Valliant, Dusty Johnston of Tomball, Texas, Cody Johnston of Jacksonville, Fla., Rock Johnston of Valliant, Okla., Mickie and wife, Toni Hall of Valliant, Okla., Kailey and Hanna Johnston of Dublin, Ga., Shawn Hardman and Kerry Dodds of Jacksonville, Fla.; Four Great grandchildren; one brother: Cleo Johnston of Etoile, Texas; and one sister, Mildred York of Lufkin, Texas; along with many other relatives and friends.

Family received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 in the funeral home.
