Mittis “Covington” Lemons

Graveside services for Mittis “Covington” Lemons were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, with Bro. Mike Maxon, Jr., officiating.

Mrs. Lemons died July 16, 2005, in Hugo. She was 84. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and a member of New Life Baptist Church in Cooper, Texas.

Mittis was born April 11, 1921 in Grant, the daughter of Frank Covington and Lulu (Williams) Covington. She grew up in the Hugo community, moved to Texas, and then moved back here in 1998. She enjoyed reading the Bible, sewing and crocheting, watching religious shows, keeping caught up on the news and spending time with her family and friends. She married J. W. Lemons on Nov. 27, 1939 in Hugo. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers; Edgar Everidge, Edwin Everidge, Jack Everidge, Joel Everidge, Luther Covington, Winton Covington, and Quentin Covington, 6 sisters; Dollie Everidge, Dora Everidge, Florence Everidge, Inez Everidge, Hallie Covington, and Ethel Covington.

SURVIVING RELATIVES: one daughter: Judy Bigley of Wills Point, Texas; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the funeral home. Miller & Miller Funeral Home –Hugo
