Dr. Lorena Eloise (Roddy) McCray

Dr. Lorena Eloise (Roddy) McCray of Miami, Okla., died Friday, July 22, 2005 at Monett Health Care Center in Monett, Mo., after an illness. She was 88.Mrs. McCray was born February 22, 1917 in Burleson, Okla., to John Milton and Lorena (Gordon) Roddy. She had lived in Miami for several years before moving to Monett.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Miami and was an accomplished pianist. She was a Professor of Humanities at Central State University in Edmond for many years. She married Paul Hendrix McCray.
Survivors include: Husband, Paul Hendrix McCray of the home; two sons, John Thurmond George II of California and Robert Monroe George of Pierce City, Mo.; one brother, Westly Roddy of Texas; one sister, Ann McGuire of Texas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami and Rev. Ed McFall officiated. Burial was at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Services were under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Okla.
