Anita Escobar Montes

Funeral services for Anita Escobar Montes of Hugo were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Interment was in Soper Cemetery.

Mrs. Montes died Friday, October 28, 2005, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital. She was 80.Anita Martinez Escobar Montes was born July 26, 1925 in Pearsall, Texas, the daughter of Ramon & Floritina (Rodrigues) Martinez. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and raising her 12 children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Filomeno Escobar in 2003; two sons, Eleborio Escobar and Juan Escobar.

Surviving relatives: four sons, Madaleno Escobar of Saginaw, Mich., Jose Escobar of Hugo, Filomeno Escobar, Jr., of Saginaw, Mich., Henry Escobar of Rattan; six daughters, Isabel Ruelas of Hugo, Teresa Escobar of Soper, Lucia Escobar of Soper, Rosario Merino of Saginaw, Mich., Esmeraldo Workman of Rattan; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.
