Jacky Gene Self passed on Friday, April 15, 2005 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to be with family, friends, and his Lord and Savior. He was 65 years old.
Jacky Gene Self was a 13-pound baby boy born on March 29, 1940 at Long Creek, Choctaw County, Oklahoma to Ollie & Moseada (Clark) Self.
He married Peggy Ann Collie June 5, 1962 in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma.
He has been a rancher here in Hugo all of his life raising horses, cattle, boarder collies, goats and game roosters. He was a truck driver for many years and moved on to working for Brown and Root for over 25 years. He was a member of the Quarter horse and Painted horse Associations.
He was a proud Choctaw Indian and also spoke the Choctaw language.
He is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; his children, Gina Self from Tempe, Arizona; Kevin & Tonya Self Bunick of Portland, Oregon; Jack David & JoLynn Self of Sawyer, Oklahoma.
He was PaPa to six grandchildren, Jack "Tad-Cracker Jack" Self II, Cecil "Ole Sam" Self, Cecilia "Sweetie Cilie" Self, Otona "Otonie" Self, "Trowa Dean" Self all of Sawyer, Oklahoma and "Bailey B" Bunick of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Clark & Virginia Self; Dicky & Nadine Self and sister-in-law Donna Self all of Hugo, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ollie & Moseada Self, his only sister, Mary Ann Self Hinton Montgomery; brothers, Usray Self, Ross Self, Doss Self, Dean Self; one Nephew Bill Self Jr. and his great friend Ben Bush.
Known by all, loved by many, as his son I can't ask for a better father but as a man I can't ask for a better friend because of the love he had for my mother and the determination and love he has given to my sisters. He was truly a great man.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Health Care Innovations nurses Peggy, Cynthia, Christie, Tambra, Linda, Alesa, Tressa. Also OU Medical Center for all of their efforts and support.
Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 Tuesday night, April 19, 2005 at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo.
Paid announcement.
