Odis “Ode” Wheeler

Funeral services for Odis “Ode” Wheeler of Valliant were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at 1st Baptist Church in Valliant with Rev. Mike Mings officiating. Interment was in Valliant Cemetery.
Mr. Wheeler died August 21, 2005, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. He was 81.ĘHe was retired from the Corps of Engineers as a maintenance worker, the owner of Wheeler’s Trailer Park since 1969, and was also a farmer. He was a veteran of WWII and he served in New Guinea, and Australia. He was of the Baptist faith
”Ode” was born November 1, 1923 in Valliant, Okla., the son of Albert and Effie (Collins) Wheeler and had lived in the Valliant area all of his life. He married Maye Seymour on December 23, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Rafael Wheeler and Vernon Wheeler and one sister; Addie Mahon.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: His wife, Maye Wheeler of the home; one daughter; Linda Chamness of Huntsville, Ala., two sons; Billy Wheeler and Phillip Wheeler both of Valliant, Okla., one brother; Palmer Wheeler of Choctaw, Okla., two sisters; Lois Julian of Ardmore, Okla. and Nettie Slaton of Valliant, Okla., six grandchildren and five great grandchildren along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Family received friends Tuesday August 23, 2005 at the funeral home.
