George Roy Wood

Funeral Services for George Roy Wood, 73-year old Hugo resident living at 603 East Lowery, are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday in Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Golden will officiate and burial will be in Shoals Cemetery.

Mr. Wood who had lived in Hugo most of his life, died Saturday night in the local hospital. He was born August 27, 1898, in Hugo, a son of George Wood and the former Miss Lucy Gorrell. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Janie Wood; nine children and 62 other descendants. The former are Mrs. Belinda Branton and Mrs. Lavern Wilkins, both living in Hugo; Mrs. Carolyn Green, Paris, Tex.; Roy Wood Jr., Graham, Tex.; Carroll D. Wood, Josephine, Tex.; Mrs. Dorothy Keeman, San Antonio, Tex.; Mrs. Wanda Perry, Delhi, Calif.; Choice Dee Wood, of Cantua, Calif.; and Mrs. Mary Brock, who is in Germany. Four sisters who survive are Mrs. Lois Wilkins, Hugo; Mrs. Katie Sue Kitchens, Grant; Mrs. Lay R. Shaw and Mrs. Georgie Shaw, both of Tulsa.
