BORN: OCTOBER 11, 1927 DIED: JULY 17, 2004

Elmer Ray Collins, 76, of Clarksville, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2004, at the New Haven Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hinckle and the Rev. A.B. Kellam officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Fort Towson, Okla., to Dennis Deberry and Georgia May Wood Collins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Betty Barrett on July 7, 1949. He was a retired oil field worker and was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Ray Collins and wife, Sharlett, of Bonham and Kevin Bruce Collins of Austin; two daughters, Karen Roberts and husband, Howard, of Clarksville and Donna C. King and husband, John David, of Corsicana; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
