Penny Carothers Payne, 47, of Fort Towson, died Thursday, Sep. 28, 1995, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Victory Baptist Church in Hugo, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery under direction of Miller and Miller Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Knox City, TX, a daughter of Gilbert A. Carothers and Lucy L. (Davies) Carothers. She worked as a bookkeeper with Hugo Housing Authority.

Survivors include a son, Jeromy Wilson of Abilene; her mother, Lucy Mitchell of Hugo; a brother, Sam Carothers of Houston; and a sister, Joann Guantt of Abilene.
