RUSSELL, BOBBIE JO (THOMPSON)

DIED: DECEMBER 4, 2000

Bobbie Jo Russell of Shawnee died Monday in a local hospital. She was 63.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1937, to Sam and Verda (Batchelor) Thompson in Garvin, Okla.

She graduated from Valliant High School in 1953 and Draughon's Business College in Dallas, Texas, in 1954. She retired in February 1992 from the Department of Human Services after 32 years of services.

On Jan. 27, 1955, she married James Kenneth Russell in Oklahoma City. In 1965, she moved to Shawnee.

She started the DHS Foster Kids Christmas program in 1965 and had operated it every year since. She was on the board of directors for Action, Inc. and was a member of Oak Park Church of God.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Hershel and Harvey Thompson.

Survivors two daughters and one son-in-law, Jo Ann Crabb of Tecumseh and Reta and Roy Wreath of Shawnee; two grandsons, Chad Hartman of Shawnee; and Ryan Crabb and his fiance Alicia Blanchard of Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Martha Thompson of Norman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, DeLana and Bob Martin of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; and Grace and Harold Treat of Shawnee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Leroy Kerbo will officiate; burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
