Local man's father dies

Joe Benjamin Sherrill, 92, father of Orval Sherrill of Pauls Valley, died Saturday in McBride Bone and Joint Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Sherrill was born Aug. 24, 1872 in Arkansas. He had lived in Coalgate the last 50 years and was a member of the Holiness Church.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Stufflebean Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ethan Tilton, pastor of the Church of God of Pauls Valley, officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Survivors include two other sons, Richard Sherrill of Fort Towson and Allan Sherrill of Kiowa; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
