SMITH, MELBA SUE (STONE)

DIED: MAY 31, 2001
Melba Sue Smith, 59, of Paris died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas following a courageous two year battle with diabetes and liver disease.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born July 4, 1941, in Paris to Earl and Lillian Hulen Stone. She graduated from Paris High School, Paris Junior College and attended East Texas State University.
She married Morris W. Smith Oct. 20, 1962, in Paris. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paris.
Survivors include her husband; her beloved son, Lance Smith of Paris, Donald Bunch of Bedford, formerly of Paris who was her cousin but more like a brother, and his wife Cindy; her cousin, Kathie Gray and husband John of Greenville and several other cousins on the Stone side of her family who live in Lamar County.
Pallbearers will be Mackey Charles, A.W. “Plug” Clem, Dr. Daryl Dickey, James Miears, Weldon Stone and Gerald Whitesides.
