SMITH, THELMA (STEWART)

DIED: JUNE 24, 2003

Thelma Stewart Smith, 96, of Paris died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Paris Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Cook officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 16, 1906, in Paris, a daughter of Robert Lee and Geneva Wilson Stewart. She attended public schools in Paris and was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church.

She married Jack Smith on April 15, 1954. He preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two nephews, George House of Paris and Thomas House and wife, Martha, of Blossom; two nieces, Thelma Rains and husband, Bill, of Amarillo and Fairy Lynn Blankenship and husband, J.D., of Lawton, Okla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
