STEELE, HAZEL ADEL (OWEN)

DIED: JUNE 11, 2001

Hazel Adel (Owen) Steele of Walla Walla, Wash., died Monday. She was 79.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Autumn Funerals in Redmond. Burial will be held at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Steele was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Hugo, Okla., to Clint and Winnie Mae Owen.

She married Julian Steele on Aug. 9, 1941, in Messer, Okla. He died in 2000.

They moved to Central Oregon in 1943 and then to Milton-Freewater in 1968. She moved to Walla Walla more than one year ago.

Mrs. Steele was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and crocheting.

Survivors include three sons, J.C. and Fred, both of Redmond, and Jerry of Maple Valley, Wash.; two daughters, JoAnn Jones of Chiloquin and Sharon Reichart of Milton-Freewater; one sister, Nita Campbell of Redmond; one brother, Jack Owen of Redmond; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Curtis Owen.
