Mother of G.W. Brinkley Dies

    Mrs. M.M. Orchard, mother of Mr. G.W. Brinkley, died rather suddenly Tuesday night at 9 o’clock and the body was carried to Campbell, Texas, Wednesday for burial Thursday. A more extensive write-up will appear in next week’s News.

    Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Brinkley and family returned last week from Commerce, Texas, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Orchard, Mr. Brinkley’s mother.

    Mrs. Mary orchard died Dec. 6, in the home of her son, G.W. Brinkley, here of heart failure. Mrs. Orchard was born in Kentucky March 11, 1847.

    Mrs. Orchard’s funeral was held in Commerce, Dec. 8, conducted by the Rev. W.M. Rogers and interment made in the cemetery there. Pall bearers were, C.E. Brinkley, R.A. Brinkley, Evert Barrett, Fred Barrett, R.E. Barrett and C.F. Barrett.

    Mrs. Orchard was a member of the Eastern Star and for 40 years a member of the Methodist church.

    Mrs. Orchard is survived by three children, G.W. Brinkley, Boswell; J.R. Orchard, Abeline, Tex.; and Mrs. J.R. Barrett, of Commerce, Texas.
