Death Claims N. Pitts Tuesday

Mr. N. Pitts who was making his home with his son, R.L. Pitts, six miles northwest of Boswell at Hunter Springs, died Tuesday afternoon, November 29th, at 3:30 o’clock.
Mr. Pitts was born in Georgia, November 1st, 1849, and was 83 years and 28 days old when death came. He was married to Miss Aminda Speed in 1870 near where he was born and to this union was born six boys and one girl, all of whom still survive except one boy. Those living are R.L. Pitts, Boswell; J.M. Pitts and F.C. Pitts, Roosevelt, Okla; A.L. Pitts and C.L. Pitts, Lubbock, Texas, and Mrs. Lizzie Whorton, in Arkansas. Those present at the funeral were R.L., J.M., and F.C. Pitts, the others could not attend.
Mr. Pitts moved to Hunt county Texas in 1892, where his companion died, January 17th, 1900 and he continued to make his home there until about eight years ago, when he broke up housekeeping and made his home three years with J.M. Pitts and five years with R.L. Pitts.
Mr. Pitts professed religion when a young man and united with the Baptist church and was ever faithful and was a true friend and worthy citizen living at peace with all mankind, and to know him was to love him. He has so lived that his children rise up and call him blessed.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Boswell, conducted by Rev. W.W. Moran, assisted by Rev. Messer and Rev. James at 3:30 o’clock Wednesday, and the body laid away in the Boswell cemetery.
The News joins friends of this community in extending sympathy to the relatives in this hour of sorrow and bereavement.
